How to reach Aveiro

Arriving From Lisbon Airport

Lisbon Airport Homepage

Take a public transportation (Carris Homepage) or taxi to the main train station, Gare do Oriente. You can also rent a car and enter A1 heading North.

To go from Lisbon Airport to Gare do Oriente by bus: take bus number 44 near the arrivals terminal in the direction “Moscavide”. Step down at the stop “Estação ORIENTE”. (Schedule of this bus)

 

Arriving From Porto Airport

Take the metro (Metro do Porto Homepage) or taxi to one of the train stations, Campanhã or S. Bento, or rent a car and enter A1, heading South.

To go from Porto Airport to Campanhã station by metro, take the line E (violet).

Porto Airport is located 11 km from downtown Porto. The main road accesses are the Porto/Lisboa highway A1.

 


The city of Aveiro is also centrally located on Portugal's main railway line between Lisbon and Porto (Linha do Norte). The fast Alfa Pendular and Inter-Cidades trains stop at Aveiro. It is posible to buy your tickets online (CP, Portuguese railways).

The Rede Nacional De Expressos (Rede Nacional de Expressos Homepage) also connects Aveiro with the rest of Portugal by express coach.

 
The main roads to Aveiro are:

 
  • A1, which links Lisbon and Porto, in the North-South direction.
     
  • A25, which connects Aveiro to Spain, crossing Portugal in the East-West direction.

    If you are travelling on A1 (detailed map of the A1) from Porto, exit at Albergaria, and then enter A25 heading West (Aveiro). If you come from Lisbon take the Aveiro Sul exit.


    Aveiro is connected via the A25 and IC1 to the main national A1 motorway, linking with Lisbon and Porto and other major routes. The A25 also links to the coast and beaches to the west and inland to the east.
